Have you realized, I mean really observed, that the smaller digital discs become is the more information they can hold? It is quite amazing how advances in technology have allowed us to carry around information in our shirt pockets. When we reflect on bygone times, one would have to have a large briefcase or some other gigantic carrying case to haul around small amounts of information from one place to another. It would be worst if one needed to travel with large amonuts of info. Can you imagine how much paper all that took up? Even the floppy disks at that time (remember the 5 1/4 discs?) were not easy to carry.

But now we can have all that data and information, and more, on a sincle CD or DVD or MiniDisc, or on microscopic chips! We are talking Gigabytes of space here. Then there is the ever trendy Flash Drive that fits right in your pocket. It seems too that the smaller cellular phones become is the more features they have and space constraints are minimal. We can watch movies, surf the internet, play music, send messages, use GPS, and on and on. Laptops and PC’s also have similar characteristics.

What new devices amaze you? If we all stop and consider where technology is headed, one day we may be able to insert a chip into our brains that can transmit and receive data and information without needing to hold a device in our hands! Our thoughts (and speech) could control the operation of the chip. Would you like one inserted into your brain?
