Pick Pack Logistics - Order Fulfillment Specialists

Many internet retailers do not have an office or warehouse where they keep an inventory of the goods that they sell. By so doing they are able to focus on selling their goods to potential customers. Storage, packing and delivery is handled by a third party that processes the orders when they are placed. One such company that is engaged in such a business is Pick Pack Logistics, with headquarters at 14675 Titus St, Van Nuys, CA 91402. In short, they are a an order fulfillment company that services the needs of small to medium sized internet retailers who desire to have their order fulfillment outsourced.

How does an order fulfillment entity like Pick Pack Logistics operate? The internet retailer stores their products in the fulfillment warehouse. Later when when a customer places an order on one of these online retail sites, the order is sent directly to the fulfillment warehouse where the staff pick out the right products, pack them in a box and then mail it to the customer. So seamless is their operation that owner and manager of Pick Pack Logistics, Jeff Pickett, had this to say: “The customer never knows that Pick Pack Logistics exists, and that’s the way we operate. No matter how small a retailer is, with our services they can act just like the big guys.”

Speaking further about the operations of Pick Pack Logistics, Jeff continued: “Our motto is ‘You Sell, We Ship!’ If you are an internet retailer, you should be spending as much time as possible on what really matters to your business, i.e. advertising, marketing, public relations and extending your product line. Everything else is a distraction.” These words speak volumes for this leader in order fulfillment. They have a team of dedicated individuals who aim to please their customers to the highest degree. This is despite the fact they operate at the very end of the internet retailing chain. They are committed to quality service.

In an effort to continue delivering quality and speedy service to their clientele, Pick Pack Logistics has opened a new location in the San Francisco Bay Area at 2114 Adams Ave., San Leandro, CA 94577. They can be reached at 510 562-6130. If you wish to contact the headquarters, call 818 997-0866. Anyone who has an online business and is truly serious about outsourcing their products should seek the services of Pick Pack Logistics. After all, as they say: “You Sell. We Ship!”

The Danger of Registry Editing

Editing the registry of your computer is a task that a novice or any other person who is not familiar with the operations of the registry should not undertake. More often that not, persons who have fooled around the registry file have and ended up with a dead computer.

Why does that happen, you may ask? Well, the registry holds all the vital bits of information about your computer, and I mean everything! It has information on your operating system, installed hardware and software, and the location of other key entities that are important to the compter’s operation. I wonder at times why people even bother themselves to go and be inquisitive in the registry. For example, look at the picture below. Do you understand any of what is being portrayed?

I don’t understand most of what all that stuff is, but the computer does. Once the wrong ones are tampered with, it can spell disaster. This post is not to show you how to edit registry settings (though many of us have at some point in time). It is simply a warning to the curious minded persons who intend on delving into every nook and cranny of their computer, worst of all the registry.

My advice to everyone is this: If you do not know what you are doing, don’t do it! Save yourself time and money by leaving the computer registry alone. As the saying goes - “A word to the wise is sufficient”.

Random Access Memory (RAM)

The amount of memory that your computer has is referred to as Random Access Memory, or RAM. These are simply computer ‘chips’ that are normally rectangular in shape, as seen in the picture. RAM is a type of data store used in computers to allow the data that is stored on it to be accessed randomly, not just in sequence. This gives it the edge over other types of memory devices like the magnetic tape and hard disks as these can only access data on the storage medium in a predetermined order due to constraints in their mechanical design.

A general definition of RAM is provided by Wikipedia, where it states:”Generally, RAM in a computer is considered main memory or primary storage: the working area used for loading, displaying and manipulating applications and data. This type of RAM is usually in the form of integrated circuits (ICs). These are commonly called memory sticks or RAM sticks because they are manufactured as small circuit boards with plastic packaging and are about the size of a few sticks of chewing gum. Most personal computers have slots for adding and replacing memory sticks.

Random Access Memory holds the program code and data during computation. A defining characteristic of RAM is that all memory locations can be accessed at almost the same speed. One drawback with RAM is that many types of them are volatile, which means that once the computer loses power, all information that was stored on them disappears.

RAM comes in many different sizes. In the early days, the memory size was as small as 8 kB and they were quite large. Now they are much smaller and the memory size goes beyond terabytes. These are truly ingenious pieces of hardware that must be carefully handled. If they are accidentally (or even purposefully) exposed to static electricty, they will be damaged and may end up nworking at all. That is why they are shipped in non-static bags (grey looking with a firm texture). One important thing to remeber BEFORE handling memory sticks is to discharge any possible static electricty from your hands by rubbing your palms against the power supply of your computer or on any grounded (earthed connection, i.e. has ome connection to the actual dirt or ground outside, hence the term ‘grounded’) object to release the static.

So enjoy your RAM and remember to handle them with care.
