Belisi’s High-End Quality Accessories

In todays fashionably trendy line of wardrobes, there is a particular name that we all like when it comes to choosing exactly what we want to wear. If it is shoes, we may like Nike or Reebok. If it underwear, we may like Calvin Klein or Fruit of the Loom. But when it comes to ties, handbags and scarves, the name that most people think of almost immediately is Belisi. The Belisi Brand was founded to enhance luxury wardrobes, while making the world a little brighter for everyone. Belisi is a name that is already synonymous with beauty and has over the years earned a loyal following for its high-end quality accessories.

The interesting thing about Belisi is that, like many other rags-to-riches now famous designers, he did not start out from inherited money passed down from previous generations. Peter Belisi, founder and owner of the Belisi Brand, was once a Bartender serving the elites in Palm Beach, struggling to support his family with no savings. He craved he luxurious lifestyle that these trendsetters were living and as such set out to find a novel concept to start his own company. Following in the shoes of his high-end clientele, Peter Belisi invested any extra money he had in a tie collection. In short order, his co-workers and clients looked to him for inspiration. He was proud of never wearing the same tie twice, a passion which spawned a business idea - the Belisi Brand. His high-end accessories indeed complement what people wear and Belisi is proud of his achievements.

Far from keeping all his wealth to himself, he gives something back to society. His guiding principle is to create Luxury with Meaning. Everytime someone purchases a Belisi product, they are putting the finishing touchs on a well put-together look while fighting poverty, seeking justice, funding medical research and protecting the environment. Speaking about his company, Peter Belisi had this to say: “Belisi unites the luxury and prestige of Palm Beach with Italian beauty and sophistication. Inside Belisi we cultivate a passion for exquisite materials and skilled craftsmanship. Each dramatic detail, represents our unwavering quest to fashion products of truly enduring value.”

So the next time you go shopping for quality ties, handbags and scarves, look for the name Belisi. It stands for good living: quality accessories, great style, and giving back to the community.

Causes of Operating System Hangups

One of the most annoying things that can happen to anyone is having their computer hang up on them, especially in the middle of something important. I have stopped counting the amount of times that used to happen to me. In any case, the particular version operating system that I was using was to blame. For example, the ‘blue screen of death’ used to occur frequently when I used Windows ME. I often wondered how I still had hair left on my head after going through all that!

But the proverbial question remains: What causes OS hang ups?

The main cause is a bug or bugs in the coding of the operating system. Referring to my experience with Windows ME, it was an unstable OS becuase there were a lot of kinks in the design, bugs that would reveal themselves over time based on certain commands given to the OS. These bugs are usually worked out by the coders for the release of the updated verion of the OS or fixed for the release of a new version of the OS.

Another reason why operating systems hang up is overloaded memory. This occurs when you have too many programs running at the same time and the machine’s memory is so overworked that it just shuts down, causing the computer to freeze. To prevent this, stop some of the programs running in the background using Task Manager and close programs that you do not need to have open.

Operating Systems also hang up at times becuase of overheating. Overheating causes expansion of the components that are heat-sensitive. Once these components become even slightly displaced, it causes the machine to think that the part has been moved or tampered with and thus the system hangs. It is also believed that overheating expands the memory module slot causing the stick to lose contact with the motherboard, thus causing the computer to hang up. To prevent this, ensure that the computer has proper ventillation. If necessary, install additional cooling fans inside the case.

There are many other reasons why computers hang up, but the ones I mentioned are the most common ones.

The Beeping Sound at POST (When Booting Computer)

Beep! Beep! Beep! Hmmm..!! What could that sound be? Or it could simply be Beep!

The beep or beeps we hear normally occur when we turn our computers on before the operating system loads. These beeps occur at POST (Power On Self Test). It normally indictaes that a particular check was successful, ususally that the memory is okay (you get a single beep). If you get multiple beeps and the computer does not go beyond the POST stage, you have got a problem. Generally it means either there is no memory present or your memory is bad.

If you have more than one memory sticks, this is what you need to do to identify if only one or all of them are defective:

1. Pull out all of the memory modules.
2. Place one of them in Slot 1 and turn on the computer. If it is good, the computer will boot okay.
3. Repeat Step 2 for the remaining memory sticks.
4. Once you have identified the bad one, discard it and get a new one.

If you do not have any memory in your computer, simply buy some and put in it. Then you are good to go.

How To Format A Floppy Diskette

Know what the picture to the left is? That is correct! It is a floppy disk. It normally comes formatted (at least as of late…it was never always like that) so all you need to do is pop it into your floppy drive and use it right away. But what if, for some reason, you need to format it, or re-format it for that matter?

The task is not daunting, it really is quite simple. Open up your Windows Explorer and look for the 3 1/2 Floppy (A:) [it may also be (B:) if you have 2 floppy drives] words. Right click on it and select Format. Choose whether you want a Quick Format or a Full Format. A Quick Format simply erases the files on the floppy. A Full Format erases and re-formats the floppy disk. Then click Start to get the process going. That’s it!

When the process has been completed, your floppy is as good as new and ready to hold your files once again.

How To Properly Delete Files From Your Hard Drive

Many times we have all deleted files from our computer’s hard drive and thought that they were all gone. Then one day we get an error saying there is not enough space to continue saving a file we are working on or when we try to add more files. What is usually the main cause?

The simple answer is that we forgot to empty the Recycle Bin each time we deleted files. It can happen even to the best of us. The thing is that we simply delete the file and forget everything about a Recycle Bin. So how can we ensure that we remember to clear out the Bin?

    Here are a few points:

    1. Place a sticky note on the monitor reminding you to empty the Recycle Bin before logging off.

    2. Right click on the Recycle Bin icon the your desktop and choose Properties. Under the Global tab, left click Use One Setting For All Drives and left click in the box beside Do Not Move Files To The Recycle Bin. Remove Files Immediately When Deleted.

    3. Install software that automatically empties the Recycle Bin just before shutting down the computer or at bootup when the operating system kicks in.

    4. View clearing the Recycle Bin as putting out the garbage. Try to remember to do it weekly just like your regular garbage, or more often if necessary.

    5. The most telling reminder that your files go to the Recycle Bin is when you are about to delete them. When you choose to delete a file, a message box normally pops up asking if you really want to send the file(s) to the Recycle Bin. That is by far the clearest reminder yet.

So, how do you properly delete files? Delete them and then clear your Recycle Bin. If you know you generally forget to do that, pay attention to options 2 and 3 above. Simply set it and forget it!

    Printers Through Time

Oh how far printers have come through the ages! In the earlier days, printers were very cumbersome pieces of machinery that could not be moved once installed. In fact, they were once so big that they took up half a room! There are printers like that today but I am making the point that at one time these large printers were the order of the day. At times more than one person had to operate a printer, a stark contrast to nowadays where only one person is needed, even with automation.

As we come nearer to our 21st century, we see where printers started losing weight overall. They started getting smaller and in due time could be carried around in a vehicle. Now there are even printers that can hold in your pocket. Some of the big names now that make printers have been around for decades, like Epson, Hewlett Packard, and Canon. These industry players, along with others that have come up since, strive to make their printers as user friendly as possible. One would think that the more features a printer carries is the heavier it would be. Not necessarily so because most portable printers are light-weight and easy to install.

Talking about features, there are some printers with the ability to scan, fax, and print all in one! Then there are the more industrial types that allow printing on multiple paper sizes simultaneously. Dot Matrix was once king. Now we have LaseJet printers that use toners (these contain the ink) and DeskJet printers that use cartridges. Unlike Dot Matrix, these new breed of printers, especially the LaserJets, print at very high speed and produce a better quality print.

Printers now come in a variety of colours, shapes, and sizes. They are truly handy tools. Have you ever thought of life without a printer? Imagine having to manually copy everything we needed to copy! That would be a trip.
