How your Desktop looks plays a large role in how well images are perceived by the eyes. If the resolution is not correct, they will not show properly and may at times hurt the eyes. This can be easily identified by looking on an image on your Desktop. If it looks pixelated, chances are it is because the resolution is incorrect. Resolution values vary, the most common being 1024×768 and 800×600 (values are in pixels). So the solution to fixing that problem is adjusting the Screen Resolution and the Colour Quality to best match the Desktop settings.
To adjust the Screen Resolution (or Desktop Resolution), right-click on your Desktop and select Properties. Then click on the Settings tab. You will see two headings near the bottom of the Display Properties windows namely Screen resolution and Color quality. To adjust the Screen Resolution simply move the slider to the right or to the left, setting it at a point where the resolution is to your liking. To adjust the Color Quality, click on the arrow and sellect your desired quality. I have found that the Highest (32 bit) setting works well with just about everything. When you are finished, click Apply then OK.
