Changing the parts in your computer can be done easily and safely. Chassis manufacturers (makers of computer frames) have made it even easier to access the components of computers by building more “user friendly” frames that are more spacious and easier to maneuver. That aside, there are some precautions you should take when removing and installing components. This can be the difference between a successful job or an electrocuted individual or even damaged computer parts.

When attempting to perform component removal and installation in your computer,

(1) Always ensure that you have plugged out the computer.
(2) Do not use wet or damp hands when working around electronic parts. Water can cause a short circuit or water damage to parts. You can even get shocked.
(3) Remove all static electricity from your hands by discharging it onto your pants or other material by wiping your hands in it.
(4) Use the correct tools when removing and installing parts.
(5) Work in a well lit area.
(6) Set the computer at a comfortable angle to make working easier.
(7) Do not place electronic components on metal or conductive surfaces.
(8) Never force out or force in parts. If there is some resistance either way, try to gently install or remove them by tilting them at a slight angle.

There are a lot more precautionary measures that one can take, but these are the more serious ones. I hope that these points will help to make your job much safer and easier.
