I really like spy shows and television series. The latest spy series craze that is about to take the world by storm is USA Network’s Burn Notice. This action-packed series is set to premiere on June 28th at 10/9C. Make no mistake, I am going to have to see it from the beginning. The series stars Michael Westen, played by Jeffrey Donovan, a CIA operative who gets a “Burn Notice” and is now trying to figure out who wants him fired and why. I would like to hazard a guess as to why and how he was fired.

Michael Westen is sent on an assignment in South Africa to take down a notorious arms smuggler nick-named AK-16. He gathers all the intelligence he needs and has them well documented on his laptop and on some backup microchips in his shoes (which happens to be a mini-computer). Armed with the info he needs and his favourite weapon, he goes to AK-16’s favourite hide-out, a bar called “Le Vine”, waiting for him to arrive. Unknowing to him, a woman named Cephille, one of AK-16’s hench-women, was told by another agent named Sam Axe that Michael has plans to kill her boss. By the way, Sam Axe was the agent who should have gotten the assignment but lost out since Michael had a better IQ. To get Michael’s attention, Cephille sits by herself at the counter, looking depressed. Michael walks over to her and offers to buy her a drink. She accepts and they strike up a conversation. To make a long story short, she spikes his drink so that he gets drunk rather quickly and just starts spilling the secret information on how he plans to get rid of AK-16. She informs Ak-16 of the plans and he manages to escape that same night on his private jet. In the meantime, Sam Axe sends a report to CIA headquarters that Michael has jeopardized the mission. Unfortunately for Michael, once he sobers up he has no recollection of even meeting Cephille the night before, let alone telling her the plans. Having fouled up on his mission, Michael’s bosses send him a Burn Notice via his GPS enabled watch that is capable of sending and receiving direct communication (audio, video, and written) from headquarters.

That is what I think will happen anyway. You will have to watch USA Network’s Burn Notice to see how it really happens. For more information on the new series and to see the true story behind his termination, you can visit the USA Network’s Burn Notice website.
