Burn Notice’s You’re Fired

I really like spy shows and television series. The latest spy series craze that is about to take the world by storm is USA Network’s Burn Notice. This action-packed series is set to premiere on June 28th at 10/9C. Make no mistake, I am going to have to see it from the beginning. The series stars Michael Westen, played by Jeffrey Donovan, a CIA operative who gets a “Burn Notice” and is now trying to figure out who wants him fired and why. I would like to hazard a guess as to why and how he was fired.

Michael Westen is sent on an assignment in South Africa to take down a notorious arms smuggler nick-named AK-16. He gathers all the intelligence he needs and has them well documented on his laptop and on some backup microchips in his shoes (which happens to be a mini-computer). Armed with the info he needs and his favourite weapon, he goes to AK-16’s favourite hide-out, a bar called “Le Vine”, waiting for him to arrive. Unknowing to him, a woman named Cephille, one of AK-16’s hench-women, was told by another agent named Sam Axe that Michael has plans to kill her boss. By the way, Sam Axe was the agent who should have gotten the assignment but lost out since Michael had a better IQ. To get Michael’s attention, Cephille sits by herself at the counter, looking depressed. Michael walks over to her and offers to buy her a drink. She accepts and they strike up a conversation. To make a long story short, she spikes his drink so that he gets drunk rather quickly and just starts spilling the secret information on how he plans to get rid of AK-16. She informs Ak-16 of the plans and he manages to escape that same night on his private jet. In the meantime, Sam Axe sends a report to CIA headquarters that Michael has jeopardized the mission. Unfortunately for Michael, once he sobers up he has no recollection of even meeting Cephille the night before, let alone telling her the plans. Having fouled up on his mission, Michael’s bosses send him a Burn Notice via his GPS enabled watch that is capable of sending and receiving direct communication (audio, video, and written) from headquarters.

That is what I think will happen anyway. You will have to watch USA Network’s Burn Notice to see how it really happens. For more information on the new series and to see the true story behind his termination, you can visit the USA Network’s Burn Notice website.

The Beep Does Not Stop (Even With The Computer Off)

This is one of the weirdest questions that I have ever had posed to me. Here goes: “Why does my computer continue to beep after it has been shut down and even plugged out?” This is no joke! Someone asked me that question the other day and I was so dumb-founded that I literally read the question over 10 times to ensure I was reading it correctly! Well, after I came to I finally was able to start thinking what could be wrong. But let me start from the beginning. Initially, the person had asked me why their computer beeps when the temperature in the room falls. My most logical answer was that there was some sort of sensing mechanism on the motherboard that triggers an audible alert when the room temperature falls below a certain level as a warning since some components do not operate well below certain temperatures. That answer seemed to work, for a while.

Then came the shocking question that I stated at the start of this post. That one really got me. I went as far as doing research to see if anyone else had that same problem before. Nada. Nothing. Zilch. Zero. There was no record of anyone having that exact problem. The closest that came to it was that the beep was present while the machine was still plugged in. But the fact that the beep was still there even after unplugging it really threw me a curve ball! Anyway, how did I help the individual resolve the problem? I told him to plug out his internal PC speaker! Problem solved! Still don’t know why it beeped even when the computer was unplugged but at least the guy could now sleep in peace and quiet. Have you ever had a weird issue like this to deal with?

Adult Education Masters Degree

Tertiary level education has over time become a very important part of the education system given the fact that it enhances ones ability of landing a well-paying job. A new aspect of this level of education is known as “Appreciative Coaching.” In light of this, Sara Orem, PhD, a faculty member at Capella University, has co-authored a new book titled Appreciative Coaching: A Positive Process for Change, published by Jossey-Bass. Orem’s co-authors are Jacqueline Binkert, PhD, and Ann Clancy, PhD. In the book, they show that that people and organizations flourish when they focus on human achievements and best practices. The “Appreciative Coaching” technique uses positive questions, mindfulness, and other tools to find the strengths of individuals, thereby effecting a change.

Speaking about the book, Sara says: “Rather than focusing on individuals in limited or problem-oriented ways, Appreciative Coaching guides the reader through four stages – Discovery, Dream, Design and Destiny – that inspire them to an appreciative and empowering view of themselves and their future. What we have presented is really a new application of appreciative inquiry.” In addition, Sara states that the book is specifically written for individual coaches of executives, managers, and “those who do one-on-one work with people who can influence and create change in their organizations.” Sara Orem, who hails from Oakland, California, is well qualified to be a co-author of “Appreciate Coaching” because she serves as a faculty member and coach in Capella University’s School of Business and Technology and she is the principal of her own coaching firm. Sara Orem has also done presentations in Appreciative Inquiry at the International Coach Federation annual conference and National Organization Development Network conference. Co-author Jacqueline Binkert is an executive coach, specializing in working with teams and leaders during times of change while Ann Clancy is president of Clancy Consultants and has vast experience working with large corporations, community organizations, and federal agencies.

Sara Orem’s employer, Capella University, is an accredited fully online university that offers adult education graduate degree programs in business, IT, education, human services, and psychology, and bachelor’s degree programs in business and IT. It offers 82 graduate and undergraduate specializations and 16 certificate programs within those study areas. The university currently serves more than 17,900 students from 56 countries and all 50 US states. Capella University is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Capella Education Company, headquartered in Minneapolis. SEO No Follow Technique Using PR Plug

There is a new SEO trick and technique that I want to share with you. This one is a technique that few are using, but those that are are seeing great results with only a few on-site tweaks. It’s called the “no follow” technique. I was aware of this before, but a guy by the name of Les Rhode has created a video that explains it beautifully. Les is a member of the SEO group Stomper Net and these guys are on the cutting edge.

In any case, there is a page where you can watch this 6-minute video. At the end of the video you can download a free tool called “PR Plug”. It was created to take advantage of this “no follow” technique by quickly and easily adding a “no follow” tag to the links you choose, thereby leaving more “PR juice”, if you will, for the links that you really want to get ranked.

Take 6 minutes and watch the video and it will all make sense. Click here to see it now. (You may want to turn your speakers up, it’s sort of quiet).

The Computerized House

Automation is becoming a way of life for a lot of things that are done in society today. Traffic lights are automated, so are doors that open when you approach them, street lights that come on when it gets dark, windows that open at daybreak, computerized steam rooms, and even coffee that percolates itself. These innovations in science make life much easier for all of us. As people get busier, it will be easier for working class people to have a more fulfilling life. Think of, for example, the days when police officers had to direct traffic at every intersection. Nowadays, stop lights have lessened the work load, in that respect, for the officers. And speaking of the coffee percolator, you can make coffee while getting dressed for work, instant coffee to be more specific.

Homes have also become more sophisticated over time. Some have windows that are computer controlled, ceilings that open up to let sunlight in, refrigerators that are able to place orders for grocery items as they diminish, and of course the automatic garage door. Televisions can be set to to turn on at specific times, VCR’s (and even DVD recorders) can be set to record a movie at a certain time, the temperature in any room can be automatically adjusted to the owner’s comfort level, you name it. Automation is now a major way of life. Even though it has not always been there, I am sure we don’t know how we could ever live without it. Is your house automated, even in a small way? You are enjoying a part of the big life. The way things are going, everybody will soon have the same luxuries extended to them.

Webroot Spy Sweeper Software

When browsing the internet, there are many things that can threaten the security of your computer and compromise any private data you may have on it. Some activities that most people do online include banking, downloading music, shopping, and research. One particular threat that has become a nuisance is spyware. Spyware is simply a computer software that collects personal information about users without their informed consent, secretly recording the information by logging the user’s keystrokes and scanning all documents on a computer’s hard drive. One way that we can prevent that from happening or to clean up any spyware that may already exist is by using Spy Sweeper.

I can recall a couple of years ago when my computer was severely attacked by spyware. At the time I did not have anti-spyware software installed and I usually visited music download sites regularly. I realized that over time my computer got progressively slower and at times the CPU usage was at 100% even when I was not doing anything. At times the computer would just freeze for a few minutes and then free up again, then the process would repeat itself. This made doing anything quite difficult and time consuming. Pop-ups also kept appearing from nowhere. A check of the Task Manager showed programs running that I never installed and they had some weird names. I immediately realized that I had a spyware problem which had to be corrected sooner than later. I used Spy Sweeper to scan and remove the spyware from my computer. The entire process took me around three days to complete as each time I did a cleanup and restarted the computer it found more. In the end, it did the job and got rid of all the spyware on my computer. Based on how efficient Spy Sweeper was, I would definitely say it is an excellent solution for spyware attacks.

If you feel that you may have spyware problems, Spy Sweeper will do the job for you. It will detect, remove, and block the most terrible forms of spyware that may emerge. The product comes with free and friendly customer support and works on Windows 2000, XP, XP Home, XP media Center or Vista. It comes with a user friendly console and many of the options are customizable. Others who have used it agree that Spy Sweeper provides advanced spyware detection, blocking and removal of the most dangerous spyware programs. Install it on your computer and let it run while you browse the web. The protection you need from this anti-spyware software will work in the background without disrupting you while you surf.

John Chow dot Com Blog Review

Seeing that I have read a lot of his posts and I have found them to be helpful in some areas makes me feel compelled and fired up to give my thoughts on his blog. With a PR of 6 at the time of this writing, John Chow’s Blog is definitely going places. It is of note that he has thousands of persons reading his blog everyday, and many more are adding his syndicated feed to their RSS readers every day. Best of all, the content is wonderful and well thought out. I see that John does not write any old thing that comes to his mind but writes things that are in his readers interests. There is also a variance in topics so that readers of various niches can find something that is to their liking.

It is interesting to see a person just show you how to make money online without charging a fee. John Chow dot Com offers practical advice on how to achieve this - via selling text links and monetizing one’s blogs in other ways. Even before I read any of his blogs, there were a few of his suggestions that I had already implemented on my blog that have yielded mixed results. Since reading John’s blog however, I have applied a few of his ideas and am now waiting to see what happens. If he says it should work, I believe him. The layout of his blog makes navigation quite easy and I have no trouble in finding what I am looking for. “The Miscellaneous Ramblings of a Dot Com Mogul” are more than informative; in fact each post has a little something in it that one can learn from. The pictures that are used are of high quality and since a picture says a thousand words it makes the posts come alive. That is one technique I am surely going to use more in my posts. In three words, here is how I describe John Chow’s blog: neat, concise, informative.

Enough said! You need to see John Chow dot Com for yourself. John Chow dot Com is a blog that helps you make money online. And if you review his blog, he is offering to link to your blog. Imagine a PR 6 blog linking to yours! That alone should be enough motivation to do a review. Anyway, keep up the good work John and may your blog continue to grow from strength to strength.
