At some point in time, a computer, no matter how fast it is, will tend to slow down over time. This is not necessarily due to a problem with the processor but may be caused by a sluggish hard drive. As you add more and more files to your hard drive, it gets “weighed down” and loads files slower than usual. A simple way to combat this problem is to regularly clean off files that you do not need. Old documents that you have already saved elsewhere or no longer need should discarded frequently from the hard drive.
In addition, performing disk de-fragmentation every 3 months helps to keep your files together so that they are not scattered all over the place. Removing programs you have installed that are no longer needed also helps to clear the clutter and free up some space. Try these suggestions if you are having problems and you will see a marked improvement in the speed of your computer.
