There are a number of persons who have had nasal surgery in the past for one reason or another. Later down the road, these same individuals end up having a revision nasal surgery because of complications that may have arisen as a result of the first surgery. Some people experience septal perforation symptoms that include a dysfunction in the nasal airway which makes breathing difficult and the formation of a hole in the septum (the partition between the nostrils). These symptoms can only be corrected by a revision nasal surgery which is more often than not more difficult to perform than the initial surgery. One of the drawbacks with this surgery is that there are times when the nasal tissue that were previously operated on have not fully healed, meaning that the surgeon will have to operate the unhealed tissue. Thus, recovery times may be longer.

The reason why a revision surgery is needed to correct septal perforation symptoms is that the initial surgery was not done by an expert. As a result, the septum becomes crooked, restricting air flow and making breathing difficult. If you had an initial nasal surgery and are seeing signs of crusting, nasal obstruction, bleeding, and drainage, then you are suffering from septal perforation, which will need to beer corrected. Though, as mentioned before, the revision surgery is harder to perform, for your own health’s sake it has to be done. If you have not yet had nasal surgery and are planning on having one done, ensure that only a professional does the job. Otherwise, you may end up with septal perforation symptoms and have to do a revision nasal surgery.
